Formed in the year 2000, Delphian has grown into one of the UK’s leading independent classical record labels, known for its innovative approach and exceptional production quality. In 2014, Gramophone Magazine awarded Delphian ‘Label of the Year’, cementing its reputation for artistic excellence.

Originally conceived in Edinburgh, Scotland, to complement the vibrant artistic landscape of the city's renowned International Festival, Delphian now boasts a diverse roster that includes many of the UK’s finest choirs, ensembles, singers, and instrumental soloists.

Under the leadership of producer-founder Paul Baxter, Delphian’s specialist in-house team ensures that every project—from conception through to recording, production, and design—meets the label’s exacting standards.

This meticulous approach has created the coveted 'Delphian sound' and visual identity, leading Choir & Organ to call Delphian “one of the most successful labels in the world” in 2023, with a global network of 21 sales teams.

Delphian’s catalogue features over 350 recordings, all engineered, produced, edited, and designed in-house. The label’s audiovisual output benefits from the seamless integration of audio and video, contributing to a coherent and recognisable brand across all media. Recorded repertoire is wide-ranging, from pre-medieval works to contemporary compositions. The label is especially noted for its focus on song, choral, chamber, and organ music, as well as its support of roots/folk projects with a Scottish accent and its commitment to new music.

Maintaining its house style means Delphian rarely considers third-party masters.
